John Werry Bio Page

Published by admin

John Werry is a collector and amateur historian in the field of Victorian Antique Furniture. Having only caught the bug in 2005, this blog in essence documents John’s meandering path amassing Victorian Furniture identification knowledge. Hopefully that knowledge will progress from minimal to something useful (anticipated in 2025).

John lives with his wife Dawn and Portuguese Water Dogs Lizzie and Taylor in the Philadelphia Suburbs in an 1887 Second Empire Victorian named “Pennyscroft”. The house includes an ever rotating collection of period furniture that don’t look like you should sit on them.

RareVictorian.com was started after John found himself searching Ebay daily to find furniture for the home after finally giving up on Ethan Allen and Pottery Barn ever producing something John would ever want to buy. RareVictorian.com is populated with blog posts profiling some of the furniture that piques John’s interest during those daily searches.

Several times a week John posts new entries to the blog which follow a few general themes:

  • Making note of interesting or rare Victorian antiques coming up for sale
  • Detailing results of a particular tangent of antique research that I followed
  • Sharing personal stories about my own antique collecting or about my Victorian home
  • Posting videos related to Victorian antiques

John’s greatest wish is that the readers of Rare Victorian will share their knowledge back with the Rare Victorian community by posting comments on the blog entries or participating in the Victorian furniture forum.  Too much important information is closely guarded out there and my hope is that this site will serve as a medium to share and disseminate this valuable history.

We hope you’ll stop by often or provide your email address to have new stories delivered directly to your inbox (your email address is never shared).
